Background:

I decided I was going to be a teacher when I was in 3rd grade, and after my big sister doubted me, I stubbornly decided I would prove her wrong. In high school when I had to begin thinking about what to study in college, I realized that all I actually wanted to do was teach, and consequently, my little 9-year-old-self felt very satisfied when I was hired at St. Patrick School in August 2012. My favorite part of being at SPS is the community. During my time, I have gotten the chance to know so many students and families, even more than I have ever taught. Everyone is supportive and encouraging. I have always felt that if I wanted to try something new in my classroom I had the full support of those around me, and as teachers at SPS, we are always expected to embrace new things.

Personal:

Coaching, like teaching, is one of my passions. I have always been very involved in the sporting world and do not plan on cutting ties anytime soon. For the past five years I have coached various levels of lacrosse and basketball. I have coached both sports at SPS, but mostly basketball. My dad is my assistant coach. I am going into my second year as the head coach of Villa Maria Academy varsity lacrosse team. Having the dichotomy of teaching kindergarten all day and then coaching high school girls in the afternoon keeps me fresh and energized!

In addition to watching, playing and coaching sports, I enjoy working on my new house and spending time with my family. My large family (both in numbers and height) is from Malvern, but now we are a little more spread out. Regardless of distance, we are very close-knit and I spend every chance I can with my siblings. My husband and I bought a house close by and it is a work in progress. I have loved trying to make it our own and doing various projects.

One Thing I Want Parents to Know:

I teach because I love it.
