Background:

Before focusing on art education, I was on the editorial staff of Harper and Row Publishers, Braziller Books, Scribner’s, Cosmopolitan Magazine, and Schiffer Books. I took courses in publishing, book design, editing, and writing throughout my career, and except for my time as copy chief at Cosmo, my main focus has been on art and art history books. As co-owner of Makeready, Inc., I edited publications for such diverse institutions as the Rockefeller Foundation and the Culinary Institute of America. In addition to teaching art to St. Patrick School Students, I occasionally work with co-editor Honor Keeler to publish books for Farrihy Press.

Personal:

I live with my family outside of West Chester, Pennsylvania, in a 1773 stone house. We love to collect 18th century art and furniture. I also find time to paint and explore the fiber and graphic arts. One of my favorite quotes comes from my great aunt, who wrote in my high school yearbook: “Love many, trust few, and always paddle your own canoe!”
