Background:

I have both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in jazz saxophone. I also play piano and flute, and often play both in church back home in Hazleton. I got into teaching while in grad school as a way to make some money while going to school. I started off doing lessons, and then started to work with the jazz groups at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. As I taught more and more, I found that I really enjoyed teaching, and also liked the stability teaching offered over trying to make a living performing. Besides teaching at St. Patrick’s, I also teach private lessons both in home and at Music and Arts in Conshohocken, have spent the past couple Springs working with the jazz groups at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, and also gig around the Philly area.

Personal:

I grew up in Hazleton, PA, where all my family is from. Besides music, I am a very big sports fan. My favorite sport is baseball.

One Thing I Want Parents to Know:

I approach teaching from a performance standpoint. I always try to link music theory and concepts to the music that students will know, and I make sure to point out these relevant topics whenever they present the music we work on in class. I also have high standards concerning the music my classes present to the public, and expect all students to have respect for the music they are performing.
